The HKCEC celebrates the Year of the Tiger with auspicious delicacies

(6 January 2022) The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), welcomes the Year of the Tiger with a myriad of auspicious delicacies at the takeaway online shop – "Take@way HKCEC" (https://onlineorder.hkcec.com/). Usher in the Lunar New Year with gourmet food offerings from fortuitous Chinese New Year puddings to festive poon choi that are ideal for reunions. Valentine’s Day entremets and "do–it–yourself" cake kit from Harbour Road Café are also available for order to celebrate the romantic occasion.

Chinese New Year puddings are many people's all-time favourites which are said to bring wealth and good luck. Chefs at HKCEC's Chinese kitchen has specially three flavours to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. A perennial favourite amongst many, the Deluxe Japanese Turnip and Preserved Sausage Pudding (HK$268) is amped up with Japanese turnip for its natural sweetness and succulent texture. The Sakura Shrimp Taro Pudding (HK$268) is elevated with rich umami flavour thanks to the addition of light and crispy sakura shrimps and dried conpoy. The Tangerine Peel, Coconut, Earl Grey and Brown Sugar Pudding, giving the traditional coconut pudding upgrade with tangerine peel and fragrant earl grey tea that oozes zesty and tangy aromas, is available at HK$238.

Customers can enjoy a 12% off early bird discount when the Chinese New Year pudding order is placed on or before 23 January 2022.

A communal dish originated in village communities to honour unity and prosperity, the Harbour Kitchen Superior Poon Choi (HK$1,090 for 6 persons, or HK$990 when purchased on or before 23 January 2022), features 18 ingredients including Chilean abalone, shrimp, and poached chicken braised in a flavoursome broth made with yunnan ham, dried shrimp and dried octopus. The casserole is served alongside crispy fish skin and a mild mala sauce to welcome the new year with a spicy kick.

Those who are looking for the perfect gifts for family and friends' gatherings, look no further with our selection of confections. Featuring the iconic animal of the new zodiac year, the "Rooooar" – Tiger Cat Smash Cake (HK$500) is made with a fluffy vanilla sponge, whipped cream and fruit filling, garnished with mixed fresh fruits and white chocolate.

No one can resist the show–stopping Piggy Bank Break (HK$500) with its adorable outlook decked with gold coins and ingots that brings a prosperous new year ahead.

Customers can also add assorted candies for an additional HK$50 to bring sweet beginnings to the Year of the Tiger.

Aptly representing prosperity and good fortune, individual cakes The Gold Ingot (HK$42) with caramel milk chocolate crunch with mandarin and orange, and The Mandarin (HK$42), a caramel milk chocolate crunch with hazelnut entremet, are also available to celebrate with families and friends.

All online orders must be placed at least three working days in advance and are available for pick up at Harbour Kitchen in the HKCEC from 17 January until 31 January 2022.

Nothing says grand romantic gestures like the Make it Yours DIY Cake Kit (HK$588). The heart–shaped vanilla sponge is made with a delicious rose, balsamic-spiked strawberry and guava compote, featuring "do–it–yourself" garnishes like confetti sugar stars and beads, chocolate pearls, raspberry crunch pearls and more for decoration. The cake also comes with a customized printed message to impress and express your love.

Swoon over two miniature cakes, Rose (HK$42), a honey ganache, pineapple confit and lemon butter crumble entremet, and Heart (HK$42) rose, balsamic-spiked strawberry, guava compote and vanilla sponge entremet, that will leave you wanting more with every bite.
