(15 October 2023) – Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (“HML”) is a winner of the prestigious Grand Award of the 2023 Hong Kong Management Association (“HKMA”) Quality Award. Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of HML, received the award together with senior management team, dedicating the Quality Award to the entire HLM team for their unflagging dedication and relentless efforts adhering to the company’s mission of delivering outstanding management, facilities and services at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (“HKCEC”) and making the HKCEC to be among one of the world’s best exhibition and meeting centres. She also cited the team’s contribution to promoting Hong Kong on the global stage and raising the standard of the local convention and exhibition industry. 
 
The Quality Award presentation ceremony was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong and officiated by HKMA Chairman Dr YK Pang. HML was recognised for its commitment to continuous improvement as the operator of a world-class venue for hosting international events. The Quality Award examiners commended HML for its accomplishment in improving customer satisfaction by establishing seamless internal and external collaboration, open and transparent communication and co-ordination, robust customer feedback collection and analysis, and systematic resource allocation. In particular, during the pandemic, HML not only kept in touch with its clients to offer flexible event scheduling and tailor-made solutions, but also succeeded in securing the Government subsidies and incentives for the convention and exhibition industry to maintain effective operations. Followed a series of comprehensive assessments, the examiners concluded that HML's excellent performance and effective management systems merited the Grand Award.
 
Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of HML, was delighted and honoured to receive the Grand Award and thanked HML’s clients and partners for their unconditional support. She emphasised that the Quality Award belongs to the whole HML team and reflected on the company's commitment to quality management. "HML has gone through ups and downs with Hong Kong economy and people for 35 years.  HML has earned the HKCEC an international reputation for service excellence,” she said. “We have successfully built the HKCEC into a world-class venue that attracts organisers, exhibitors and buyers from all over the world to Hong Kong and helps drive the development of the city’s convention and exhibition industry. Over the years, the local industry has grown from the ground up to attain many accomplishments, and its strength today has been affirmed and commended by the international convention and exhibition industry."
 
Ms Lee-Müller added, “This award undoubtedly recognises our commitment to quality management. HML will continue to uphold the highest principles of venue management by continuing to invest in hardware and software upgrades and promoting Hong Kong's event industry overseas."
 
Introduced by the HKMA in 1991, the HKMA Quality Award is modelled on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the United States annually, the highest level of national recognition for quality performance and practices. The judging criteria cover seven aspects: leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce; operations; and results. The Award aims to give recognition and encouragement to companies that have made outstanding contributions to and excelled in the area of quality management, and also to provide an opportunity for companies to share their insights in this area.
