Diane Chen to join HKCEC (Management) Limited as Deputy Managing Director


(18 June 2024)     Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML) today announced the appointment of Ms Diane Chen as the second Deputy Managing Director to further strengthen its executive leadership team, effective 2 July 2024.  HML is a professional private management and operating company, responsible for providing day-to-day management for the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Ms Chen will lead three divisions – Marketing & Sales, Communications, Human Resources & Administration, and will be responsible for developing and implementation of business strategies to maximise venue utilisation and revenue, enhancing corporate branding and human resources development of HML.  Ms Chen is also appointed as a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Committee.

Ms Chen joined Shenyang New World EXPO (EXPO) during its pre-opening stage in 2012 and progressed through several senior management positions before being promoted to General Manager in 2016.  During her 12 years at EXPO, Ms Chen has exemplified leadership in her ability to train, nurture and energize a staff that has performed consistently with enthusiasm and responsiveness which has translated to unique value in the venue's use by clients and attendees alike.  Through her active participation in professional development programmes and implementation of international operating and management industry standards at EXPO, she has successfully positioned EXPO as a premier exhibition and meeting venue in Mainland China and earned EXPO global recognition and business opportunities.

As an active contributor to the event and venue management industries, Ms Chen currently serves as a board member and Vice Chair of Asia Pacific Chapter of UFI – The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, Vice-Chairman of Shenyang Exhibition Industry Association, and a board member of the European Chamber, Northeast Chapter.   Ms Chen was awarded the designation of Certified Venue Executive (CVE) by International Association of Venue Management (IAVM) in 2021, being the first venue industry professional in Mainland China to receive such prestigious certification.

Ms Chen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris, France, and a Master’s Degree in Business Strategy Management from the Institut des Hautes Études Economiques et Commerciales, Paris, France.
