HKCEC F&B team honoured with eight awards at the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic 2021

  • HML’s Food & Beverage team achieved excellent results at the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic 2021


(10 September 2021) The Food and Beverage Team of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (“HML”) attained eight outstanding awards three gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic (“HKICC”) 2021 held between 7 and 9 September 2021 during HOFEX 2021. 

The biennial HKICC is one of the largest culinary competitions in Asia that aims to promote culinary excellence, skills and abilities of Chefs, Cooks, Pastry Chefs and Apprentices.  Co-organised by the Hong Kong Chefs Association and HOFEX, Asia’s leading food & hospitality tradeshow, the HKICC is one of few culinary competitions endorsed by Worldchefs, the World Association of Chef’s Societies (“WACS”), and is run and judged entirely according to WACS rules and judging criteria.

“We’re thrilled to receive the awards, they are a seal of approval by the judging panel. This is a recognition of our devotion in nurturing young talent and the provision of professional culinary training, combined with exquisite culinary skills and creativity, the awards are a definitive benchmark of excellence for the team,” said the Director of Food & Beverage, HML, Mr Paul Chandler.

Among the exceptional results that the Food & Beverage team achieved in Individual Categories, the two pastry chefs in the “Live Afternoon Tea Set” team competition category scored the highest marks and were crowned the “Best of the Best” title.

HML has had its own in-house Food & Beverage team since the opening of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (“HKCEC”) in 1988.  To ensure its success, HML has assembled a Food & Beverage team of 250 full-time staff including chefs, restaurant and catering service staff, and experienced event managers.
