Two of the HKCEC's restaurants showed their support for the sustainable fishing movement by joining in the Sustainable Seafood Week, held from 10 – 18 November. Congress Plus and Golden Bauhinia Cantonese Restaurant took part in the scheme, which is organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature and which aims to promote the idea of sustainable seafood to the general public.
Sustainable seafood comes from well-managed fisheries where seafood is caught or farmed in an ecologically-friendly way. Sourcing seafood in this way fits in with HML's overall commitment to sustainability and we support the use of sustainable seafood in our restaurants.
Congress Plus presented sustainable seafood at a dinner buffet during the week while the Golden Bauhinia Cantonese Restaurant used sustainable seafood in three selected authentic Cantonese dishes. The seafood on offer was chosen according to the recommendations from WWF-Hong Kong's Seafood Guide.
