Industry Subsidy Scheme Extended Again

Industry Subsidy Scheme Extended Again

The Convention and Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme, launched by the HKSAR government in 2020, is being extended again to run up to end December 2022. The subsidy seeks to reinvigorate the convention and exhibition industry, which plays a vital role in Hong Kong’s economy and has been badly hit by the Covid-19 global pandemic. Players within the sector have been active in pursuing an extension to the subsidy scheme, which gives a much needed boost to business.

The Scheme consists of two parts: one to subsidise organisers 100 per cent of the venue rental of exhibitions and international conventions held at HKCEC and AWE starting from October 3, 2020, while the other is to subsidise exhibitors and major conference participants 50 per cent of the participation fee at events organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council starting from November 30, 2020.  Originally set to last for one year, the Scheme was been extended twice to June 30, 2022, and has now been further extended it for six months to 31 December 2022.

The application guidelines and forms are available at https://www.cedb.gov.hk/en/industries/convention-and-exhibition.html.
