Fair Preview - HKTDC Education & Careers Expo

9 February 2012 - 12 February 2012

The foundation for success for any enterprise operating in today’s knowledge-based economies rests firmly on human capital. Educational institutes want to ensure they recruit the brightest students, while government and businesses need quality staff.

The event, which celebrates its 22nd edition in 2012, has a strong reputation as the preferred venue at which public and private sector employers and educational institutes recruit their ideal employees and students.

The expo is split into two main sections, grouping exhibitors for visitors' ease of access.

The Education section brings together all types of institutions, including universities and colleges, vocational training institutes and language schools, which are sub-divided into "Hong Kong” and "Outside Hong Kong”.

Meanwhile the Careers section is the place for school-leavers, graduates and other job-seekers who are looking for their next career opportunity and for careers advice. Exhibitors in this section include commercial enterprises, government departments and semi-government organisations, professional associations and recruitment media.

The Creative Education Zone responds to the growing importance of creative industries to economies and enterprises. Visitors in this zone are able to connect directly with potential employees and institutes helping them to develop their creative skills and talents. Celebrities working in the cultural and creative fields will share the secrets of their success through presentations: among them included Ms Kearen Pang and Doctor Lam Lap-sam.

The expo stages a number of activities to help visitors add value to their professional development. Former Secretary for Education and Manpower, Mr. Joseph Wong Wing-ping, GBS, JP, will talk about his work experience in the public sector and his thoughts on current social issues in the celebrities sharing session. A series of instructive workshops will be held to cover topics such as preparing CVs, writing cover letters, interview techniques etc.
