It's official
--again. The HKCEC has been voted "Asia Pacific's Leading
Conference Centre 2002" at the 9th World Travel Awards, an
event that has been described as the 'Oscars' of the World
Tourism and Travel Industry. With nominees determined by votes
received from over 500,000 frontline agents and 80,000 travel
agencies worldwide, becoming a finalist is in itself a prestigious
accomplishment. For the HKCEC to win the award outright suggests
that the Centre truly is consistently attaining standards
of facilities and service that are unable to be matched elsewhere
in the hemisphere.

Working
together with local interests from within the exhibition industry,
the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has come up with a
topical and attractive new brochure promoting Hong Kong as
the ideal trade fair location in Asia. Titled 'Hong Kong
- First Choice in Asia for International Trade Fairs',
the brochure includes a host of useful information for both
organisers and exhibitors, and highlights the many ways in
which Hong Kong holds important competitive edges over rival
trade fair destinations. The brochure will be available in
April.

Managing
space is one of the HKCEC's specialties, an ability which
has been significantly enhanced by the recent acquisition
of the latest space innovation-retractable telescopic seating.
Installed in Hall 3, this remarkable technology allows for
whole sections of seating to be swiftly and silently removed
at the touch of a button, creating a versatile and flexible
space that can be adapted according to the individual needs
of users. With seating up to 3,200, the new seating system
can quickly and efficiently transform the Hall 3 into multipurpose
meeting or entertainment space and allow organisers to quickly
design their creative layout.

What better
way of using space creatively than going al fresco? The Centre's
latest entertainment venue is its Skyway outdoor area,
located on the roof of the Atrium and with nothing but the
sky for ceiling. Elegantly finished with stone flooring, careful
planting and soft lighting for evening receptions, Skyway
is an ideal spot for combining a pre-event cocktail or welcome
speech within an unusual open-air location high above Victoria
Harbour. Able to accommodate up to two hundred guests, Skyway
looks set to become a favoured meeting place with its own
unique ambience.
