We highlight three major trade fairs that demonstrate the diversity of events held at the HKCEC.

Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair 2002 (8-11 January 2002)
Organiser: Hong Kong Trade Development Council
Largest toy fair in Asia and third largest worldwide
More than 30 countries and regions represented
National pavilions provided by Mainland China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand
Total of 1,612 stands - including 634 from overseas
Displays covered 47,000m2
More than 12,500 buyers came from outside Hong Kong - up 4% on last year
Hong Kong accounted for 15,837 buyers (out of 28,350 total) - up 22% on 2001
Mainland China sent 215 exhibitors and 1,871 buyers (35.4% more than last year)

Innovation Expo (22-26 November 2001)
Organiser: Innovation and Technology Commission - Hong Kong SAR Government

Featuring three thematic pavilions showcasing HK's achievements in innovation and technology:

  • EcLiving displaying new inventions, innovative products, world-class designs and latest environmental technologies
  • Interactive World using interactive gadgets and interfaces to show latest advancement in the areas of information technology, telecommunications and multi-media entertainment
  • Techno-Fountain displaying latest technologies in biotechnology, Chinese medicine, plastics, metals, etc
More than 130 exhibitors utilised some 12,636m2 of space at Hall 1
Designed to enhance public awareness of the importance of innovation in daily lives
Targeting venture capitalists, businessmen, industrialists and academics, as well as the general public
Attendance topped more than 130,000 over the five-day event





World Tobacco Symposium and Tradefair 2001 (8-10 October 2001)
Organiser: World Tobacco, DMG World Media

Key event for all sectors of the tobacco industry

1,013 exhibitors spread through 102 stands
Some 2,700 visitors from 45 countries attended
China and HKSAR contributed almost 2,000 participants
Rapidly modernising China market attracted biggest interest
Innovation used as theme for both Fair and Symposium
