Hong Kong Mode Lingerie (8-9 April 2008)

Quality Lingerie & Beachwear to Make a Splash

The allure of fashionable lingerie and beachwear is set to tempt buyers at Hong Kong Mode Lingerie. The quality of exhibitors is assured, with manufacturers and suppliers being invited to attend following selection by a professional committee. That quality is naturally carried through to the products on display, too. Fibres, fabrics including warp and weft, knits, prints, lace, embroidery, accessories and trimmings, will be showcased, along with services such as production capabilities, product development, quality control systems and media.

Visitors will also be treated to a programme of forums and seminars, including the extremely popular detailed overview of upcoming trends, as well as information on the latest developments in marketing and product development.

Organiser Eurovet staged this event for the first time in Hong Kong in 2007 and was extremely pleased with the high quality of visitors, who came from all around the world, and encompassed lingerie and beachwear designers, major retailers, buying groups, specialist chains, mail order companies and importers.

Art HK 08 (14-18 May 2008)

Art of the Matter

It is an irresistible palette - a mix of western and oriental art depicted on one big canvas. And in this case the canvas is the HKCEC.

The centre will play host to what is sure to be one of the most talked about events this year ¡X Art HK 08. It is more than a decade since a happening of this magnitude has taken place in Hong Kong, but Art HK offers something new and exciting by focusing very much on contemporary and modern art. Hong Kong is now the world's third largest art market by auction sales, so interest, particularly from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, will be very strong.

On show will be works of art from about 100 international galleries from 20 countries, displaying everything from Andy Warhol to Zhang Xiaogang, including works by Picasso, Xu Bing and Damien Hirst. As well as artists of world renown, emerging local artists will also be showcased - so art lovers with a small budget looking to purchase their first work of art will be welcomed as much as serious collectors looking for big-name pieces costing millions for investment purposes.

Tickets for the Vernissage on 14 May are HK$500 each. 50% of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Hong Kong Cancer Fund.

Vinexpo Asia-Pacific (27-29 May 2008)

Popping Corks in Celebration

The recent abolition of duty on wine by the Hong Kong government certainly helps put the spotlight on Vinexpo Asia-Pacific.

The event was last held in Hong Kong in 2006 and exceeded all expectations ¡X so this year more exhibition space has been secured to accommodate an anticipated 650 exhibitors from all around the world, including a large contingent from France.

Vinexpo, the world's largest wine and spirits trade exhibition, is traditionally held in the key winemaking region of Bordeaux every two years. The Vinexpo Overseas is created to serve other areas of the world in the alternate years. This is the third time that Vinexpo Overseas will be held in Hong Kong with Vinexpo Asia-Pacific.

"After reviewing exhibitors' feedback and impressions of the development and potential of the Asian market, especially China, the board of Vinexpo Asia-Pacific decided that the show should return to Hong Kong, " said Mr Robert Beynat, Chief Executive of Vinexpo Asia-Pacific.

The organisers acknowledge the dynamism of the Asian economy and consider Hong Kong to be the natural hub of the industry in this part of the world. More than 7,500 wine and spirits importers, wholesalers, retailers, duty-free buyers, and professionals in the bartending, beverage, and restaurant business, including significant numbers from China, are expected to attend.

The Vinexpo Asia-Pacific 'University', a much-praised element of the 2006 show, will be repeated with an enhanced programme this year. With carefully formulated seminars and tasting sessions, the 'University' offers a forum for the exchange of ideas as well as an opportunity for participants to learn about new trends and products. This year the 'University' will focus on five key areas that have emerged as fundamental to the development of the Asian market: knowledge of the world's wine producing areas, understanding the principles of tasting, the art of marrying food and wine, marketing and sales strategies and understanding spirits.
