As previewed
in the last issue of Headline, Hall 3 at the HKCEC has now been
fitted out with a state-of-the-art seat riser system. The seat riser
enables seating to be configured to suit the needs of both performers
and audiences, allowing more flexible performance spaces on the
one hand, and improved audience sightlines on the other. Entire
sections of seating can be retracted or reconfigured with the flick
of a switch. The system has already proved a success, after first
being used in June for the popular 'Music is Live' concert organised
by Commercial Radio and starring Cantopop singer Andy Hui. Incorporating
33 rows and over 3,000 individual seats, the system weighs some
205,000 kg, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world.
Despite its bulk, however, it has significantly streamlined the
process of preparing for shows and concerts, and at the same time
improved audiences' comfort and vision. Keep an eye open for shows
and events at the HKCEC's Hall 3, and experience the advantages
of the seat riser system for yourself.
