The iconic and
much-loved teddy bear celebrated its one-hundredth birthday this
year, and the HKCEC gave it the birthday party it deserved! The
Centre's 100th Birthday Festival was designed to celebrate the fun
and pleasure that generations of children and adults alike have
derived from this humble stuffed toy. Featuring children's rides,
teddy bear acrobatic shows, and a teddy bear garden (where doubtless
a teddy bear picnic was taking place!), the festival showcased numerous
aspects of the teddy bear, its owners and its makers. And the star
of the show? A colossal eight-metre high seated teddy bear, its
ears scraping the ceiling of the lofty exhibition hall. Vying for
a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest,
this was definitely not a teddy bear to snuggle up next to in bed!
