Celebrating
one of the world's premier racing events, the Hong Kong International
Races, and held in conjunction with the Hong Kong International
Sale auction at the HKCEC, this year's Gala Dinner was a spectacular
event attended by around 1,000 guests. Several VIPs were present
for the occasion, including Chief Executive the Honourable Tung
Chee Hwa and Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Mr Ronald Arculli.
A superb Asian
banquet in the Grand Hall was complemented by varied entertainment
of the highest order, topped by a special wushu performance inspired
by the martial arts expertise and the music of the famed Shaolin
monks. The blend of beauty and athleticism on show was apt for an
occasion which was celebrating elegance, strength and achievement
of another kind within the world of racing. A contemporary dance
troupe continued the celebration of music and movement with a performance
marrying Eastern and Western choreographic styles, while later on
guests had the chance to show off their own skills, as a live band
played favourites and many couples took to the dance floor.
