BREAKING NEWS

Even regular users of the HKCEC have on occasions struggled with the layout of our large, multi-level Centre. To help you orient yourself quickly and easily and provide clear directions to visitors to your event, we would like to make the following suggestions and guidelines.

First, it is important to recognise that all venues can be easily located with just one basic piece of information: what is the closest main entrance? The HKCEC has two main entrances - the Harbour Road Entrance and the Expo Drive Entrance. At each of these entrances, blue way-finding signage (white back-lit letters on blue background) is clearly and prominently displayed for all the venues served by that entrance. Users who arrive at the correct entrance can thus easily follow the signs to reach their destinations. Problems only arise if users are directed to the wrong entrance by mistake, in which case they may initially have difficulty finding the appropriate signs.

HKCEC venues are easily located by clear signage leading from one of the two HKCEC main entrances. The simplicity of this system is that users do not have to worry about whether their venue is in an 'old' or 'new' part of the Centre, or even concern themselves with what 'level' or 'floor' their venue is located on. Correct entrance plus clear signage is the simple recipe for getting to your venue smoothly and quickly.

In fact, no reference should be made to "phase", "wing", "new", "old", "level" or "floor" in any location information provided by event organisers. These old terms are unnecessary, are not reflected on any way-finding signage within the HKCEC, and are besides unfamiliar to new guests, visitors and our staff.

For your convenience, here is a list of the correct entrances to use for different venues.

Use the Harbour Road Entrance for:

  • Halls 5 and 7
  • Convention Hall and Foyer
  • Theatres 1 and 2
  • Halls 1, 2 and 3 as well as Grand Hall (when registration for events within these Halls is in the Atrium)
  • Meeting Rooms 401-410
  • Meeting Rooms 601-610
  • Ticketek Box Office
  • Richard Ivey Business School
  • Harbour Lounge, Gallery Cafe, Congress and Traders restaurants
  • HKCEC Executive Office (Managing Director, Deputy Managing Director, Director of Operations, Communications Dept)
  • All venues (when those attending venues will arrive primarily by MTR)

Use the Expo Drive Entrance for:

  • Halls 1, 2 and 3
  • Grand Hall and Foyer
  • Meeting Rooms 201-212
  • Meeting Rooms 301-312
  • TDC Business InfoCentre and Customer Service Centre
  • Port Cafe
  • Pacific Rim
  • Golden Bauhinia Cantonese Restaurant
  • Expo Galleria
  • Golden Bauhinia Square
  • HKCEC Administration Office (Marketing & Sales, Food & Beverage, Event Planning & Coordination, Management Information System, Finance, Human Resources and Purchasing & Supplies)

(Note: directional signs for these destinations appear also in the two main entrances, for patrons not arriving by vehicles.)

Finally, please note that the HKCEC's two carparking facilities have their entrances located off Harbour Road, Convention Avenue, and Expo Drive Central. Information Counters are also available at the Harbour Road and Expo Drive entrances.
