HKCEC Records 3 Straight Weeks at “Capacity Plus”
(Hong Kong, 1 November 2010) The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has just experienced three (3) of its most active consecutive weeks in its history.
During the past three (3) weeks, five (5) major international trade exhibitions have licensed a total of 1,706,817 sqm spanning a total of 22 days, including move in and out operations. It averaged almost 78,000 sqm per day that exceeded the maximum exhibition capacity of the HKCEC at 66,000 sqm, overflowing into multi-purpose convention and banquet venues, foyers and even the underground parking lot.
The above activities once again confirm the need for the expansion completed in April 2009. The popularity of trade exhibitions at HKCEC in the sourcing season reaffirms that Hong Kong maintains its leading position as Asia's most vibrant and dynamic exhibition hub.
HKCEC Managing Director Cliff Wallace stated, "We once again demonstrated the versatility of this magnificent venue as well as the creativity of our management team in meeting organisers’ demand under the current constraint. As the potential economic benefit to the city continues to grow, we hope that the proposed third expansion will remain high on the government's agenda for strategic long term development."
The five (5) exhibitions collectively achieving the "capacity plus" success for the HKCEC were:
1) HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition)
organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council
(13-16 October, 2010)
2) electronic Asia
